Notes about Josiah WEDGWOOD

12th child, (5 died as infants).

He developed a knee problem which became infected, so badly that he could not walk, at the age of 37, he decided to have his leg removed with only Laudanum to deaden the pain. Whilst in this state, his wife lost her son Richard whowas just a year old.

Joseph survived this trauma but his eyesight was also deteriorating, so badly tjat he learnt to read with his fingers.

He was also a anti slavery campaigner.

Josiah lastly developed a toothache which became malignant, so Joseph locked himself in his bedroom and died, peacefully in his sleep.
