Wedric [Wedricus] de Condé, Seigneur de Condé, was born about 1085 CE in the Seigneurie de Condé-sur-l'Escaut, Hainaut, Empire romain germanique (Germanic Roman Empire, successor to the Empire of Charlemagne; it was declared as the "Holy Roman Empire" in the 12th Century at time of Friedrich I "Barbarossa"). He was the son of Osbert de Condé, b: 1057 and his wife (Unknown).

NOTE: "Ancient Ancestors" at <http://members.tip.net.au/~ronwells/190-9.htm> calls him Amfrid Camerarius de Condé, fl 1086.

Unfortunately, "Medieval Lands" chose not to research the origins of the Seigneurs de Condé before Wedric's son, Roger (b: ca. 1120 CE). In fact, during the tumultuous 11th Century (1000s) when Hainaut was afflicted by several dynastic civil wars, the Seigneurie de Condé was divided and its south-eastern part near Avesnes-sur-Helpe, was ceded to a different Wedric [Wedricus ad Barbarum] called "Wedric le Sor" (Wedric the Redhead). His successors became known as the "House of Avesnes" and their part of Condé was called "Vieux Condé".[1][2][3]

Wedric de Condé had a son: Roger de Condé, b: ca. 1120 CE in Condé-sur-l'Escaut, Hainaut.

NOTE: Originally this profile had Wedric de Condé married to Mathilde (aka Mahut) de la Roche (1130 - 10 Sep 1169). Further research has shown that Mathilde de la Roche was the daughter of Henry de Namur. She married (1) Thierry de Valcourt, "célèbre & vaillant chevalier," (2) "Nicolas, Seigneur d'Avesnes, de Landrecies, de Condé et de Leuze." [4] [5] Consequently, I have detached her profile from .
Also, the death date of 10 Sep 1169, attributed to both Mathilde and Wedric originally was, in fact, the death date for Empress Mathilda of England, widow of King Henri I. She died 10 Sep 1169 in Rouen, Normandie, France. Thus there has been a conflation between these 2 women named "Mathilde" / "Mathilda". Wedric's death date was likely before 1170 as he would have been 85 then but the exact date and place are Unknown. Chet Snow 2 June 2019.
