Seine Nachkommen (Joseph Wilhelm und Ludwig August Egon) übernahmen das Erbe und teilten sich wiederum in das fürstliche, ältere und in das landgräfliche, jüngere Haus zu Stühlingen, das zur Linie Fürstenberg-Weitra wird, denn Ludwig August Egon schließt am 29.7.1755 einen Vergleich mit dem Bruder und erhält Weitra. Sein Bruder Joseph Wilhelm erhielt 1762 eine Ausdehnung des Reichsfürstenstandes auf seine gesamte Nachkommenschaft. Er residiert 1744 zu Mösskirch, ist 1735-1740/1743 u. 1745-11.1.1748 kaiserlicher Prinzipalkommissar auf dem Reichstag zu Regensburg, ferner kurbayerischer Obersthofmeister, wird am 2.12.1716 Fürst, als die Linie Heiligenberg ausstirbt, ist zudem Ritter vom Orden des Goldenen Vließ und kaiserlicher wirklicher geheimer Rat. Seine Söhne gründeten des älteren Primogenialast (1804 erloschen) und die fürstliche Linie zu Böhmen.
