Notes about Jacob Reijnst

REIJNST (Jacob), dapper zeeheld in de eerste helft der 18e eeuw. In 1729 was hij kapitein ter zee, toen hij met de Provincie van Utrecht, onder Cornelis Schrijver (hij zelf had het bevel over de Polanen) en Willem 't Hooft, die Twickelo commandeerde, door den vice-admiraal van Sommelsdijck op last der Algemeene Staten, naar Algiers werd gezonden. In 1744 benoemden hem de Staten van Holland tot schout-bij-nacht, later werd hij vice admiraal en overleed eindelijk als lt.-admiraal van de Mase, in 1756. Hij is in teekening gebracht.
