Dr. Roelof van Ommeren, heer van Wolfsweert, geb. Arnhem 4 juli 1619, jur. student te Leiden 30 april 1639, burgemeester van Hattem 1650; benoemd tot extra-ordinaris gedeputeerde of envoyé naar de Evangelische kantons van Zwitserland en de hertog van Savoye, kwam hij te Genève aan 3 sept. 1655 en bleef daar en in Savoye tot 11 dec. 1656; burgemeester van Wageningen (1662), gedeputeerde naar de Maas en het Goereese gat 6 juni 1665, raad en rentmeester der domeinen van Gelre en Zutphen 1667, gedeputeerde ter Staten Generaal, ovl. 10 maart 1689.
Zoon van Jan van Ommeren, raad 1614, 1615, schepen en burgemeester van Tiel, burgemeester van Arnhem, en Anna Buddingh; trouwde Amsterdam 16 jan. 1657 Albertine Pauw, vrouwe van Vijfhuizen, geb. aldaar 24 aug. 1635, ovl. 18 april 1707, dochter van Reynier Pauw, ridder, heer van Nieuwerkerk, Zuid-Schalkwijk en Vijfhuizen, baljuw en dijkgraaf van Amstelland 1651, en Adriana Jonckheyn.

WOLFSWAARD. Is een Heerenbuis, in het Kwartier van Nijmegen, in den Bommelerwaard, niet ver van het Dorp Beest, ten noorden van het riviertje de Linge gelegen. Het is een sierlijk en vrij aanzienlijk gebouw, met een zware achtkantige toren en een scherpe spits, met leyen gedekt. Niet ver van hier is een veer om over de Linge te varen.

Bij Huize Wolfswaard, pal aan de zomerdijk langs de Rijn gelegen, betraden we natuurgebied de Wageningse uiterwaarden.
In De Wolfswaard, een gebouw uit 1790, werd in de Tweede Wereldoorlog het complete gemeente-archief verstopt in een kippenhok en later in een moeras gegooid, wat mensen de gelegenheid gaf een nieuwe identiteit aan te nemen.
