In het gevolg van de Keizer bevond zich ook Sigurd von Ilsemann, die door Wilhelm al ras tot vleugeladjudant werd benoemd, een functie die in feite neerkwam op de secretariaatsvoering van des Keizers in ballingschap verkerende Hof. Sigurd huwde een dochter van de Baron Bentinck die hij in Amerongen had ontmoet. Over zijn leven met de Keizer schreef Von Ilsemann later het boek "Der Kaiser in Nederland" (Baarn 1969). Deze Sigurd von Ilsemann verkeerde op 13 juli 1923 in Noordwijk, waar hij - naar ik aanneem - voor de vakantieperiode een villa had gehuurd. Volgens een bericht in het Utrechts Nieuwsblad van die dagen heette de villa aan de Zuidboulevard "Groenedak", maar een villa met die naam kan ik met de beste wil en in de diepste archieven nergens terugvinden. Von Ilsemann had ook zijn schoonvader, de Baron Bentinck, op die dag op bezoek, aanleiding voor de Keizer om zijn oude getrouwen met een bezoek te vereren. Het gaf allemaal nogal wat stampei - ook in de Duitse pers - want de balling Wilhelm II mocht natuurlijk niet teveel vrijheid krijgen. Hij maakte er een kort bezoekje van en nam tegen de avond alweer de benen naar Doorn.

Sigurd von Ilseman schreef het boek 'Der Kaiser in Holland'. Hij was van 1918, dus onmiddellijk na aankomst van de Keizer in Eisden tot aan zijn dood in 1941, zijn adjudant. De Keizer ging na aankomst in Nederland wonen in Kasteel Amerongen van Graaf Bentinck. In deze periode trouwde von Ilsemann met de dochter van Graaf Bentinck. Hun zoon is nog adviseur van Huize Doorn en hij leidt persoonlijk bijzondere personen rond.
Huize Doorn werd gekocht van Barones de Beaufort, de grootmoeder van de bekende filmster Audry Hepburn.
Von Ilsemann pleegde op 6 juni 1952 zelfmoord in de kamer precies boven de sierlijke hoofdingang van Huize Doorn.
Boudewijn Büch heeft zeer zeker gebruik gemaakt van voornoemd boek.
