JOHAN BALTHAZAR HELVETIUS, de oudste zoon, geb. 1659 studeerde te Leiden, alwaar hij den 12den julij 1678 tot med. dr. bevorderd werd. Na Engeland, Duitschland en Turkije te hebben bezocht, zette hij zich te Amsterdam als geneesheer neder, en verwierf veel roem als steensnijder (sic). Hij was getrouwd, en had behalve eene dochter, ongehuwd overleden, eenen zoon JOHANNES HELVETIUS, die mede geneesheer te Amsterdam werd, en wiens dochter MARIA ELISABETH HELVETIUS den 30sten 1760 huwde aan mr PIETER VAN DEN BERGH, advocaat te Nijmegen, uit welk huwelijk de familie HELVETIUS VAN DEN BERGH is gesproten

HELVETIUS (Johan Balthasar), geb. te 's Gravenhage, ged. aldaar in de Kloosterkerk 25 Apr. 1659, zoon van Johan Frederik, studeerde te Leiden, ingeschreven ald. 21 Febr. 1673 en 25 Oct. 1675, werd doctor in de Medicijnen 12 Apr. 1678. Na een reis in Engeland, Duitschland en Turkije vestigde hij zich als geneesheer te Amsterdam waar hij de lithotomie beoefende. In de stadsrekening van Middelburg van 1695 komt een betaling voor van £ 2:1:8 aan Max Helvetius, voor de helft in zes maanden traktement van zijn broeder Johan Balthasar Helvetius, als stadsoperateur en steensnijder, vervallen 15 Oct. 1695. Hij had één zoon, Johan Frederik Helvetius, geb. te Amsterdam 1687, als stud. te Leiden ingeschr. 19 Sept. 1707, eveneens Med. doctor te Amsterdam, wiens dochter Maria Elisabeth, geb. te Loenen 30 Dec. 1760, te Oud-Loosdrecht huwde met Mr. Pieter van den Bergh, advocaat te Nijmegen.
Zij kochten 1770 het landgoed ‘de Witte Poort’ bij Nijmegen van C.D.N. Singendonck. Uit dit huwelijk stamt de familie Helvetius van den Bergh.
