Notes about Johan Anton Vrijheer van Berchem

Von diesem uralten, ursprünglich niederländischen Geschlechte, kam Anton von Berchem, ein Sohn Balthasar's und der Katharina geb. von Manderscheid, zuerst nach Bayern. Er ward des Kurfürsten Ferdinand Maria wirkl. G.Rath Kammer- und Conferenz-Rath, auch Hauptpfleger zu Dingolfing und Reisbach und erwarb nachdem er am 20. Oct. 1676 die Edelmannsfreiheit in den Kurlanden erhalten hatte mehr als fünfzehn Hofmarchen und adelige Sitze in Ober- und Nieder-Bayern, woraus er für seine, mit Anna Maria geb. von Schalck zu Schwifting erzeugten drei Söhne ebenso viele Fideicommisse stiftete. Von diesen Söhnen hatte er nur Joseph Cajetan, verm. mit Maria geb. Freiin Cammerlohr von Weichingen Nachkommenschaft. Anton von Berchem wurde s.d. 23. Januar 1683 vom Kaiser Leopold I. in des heil. röm. Reichs- und der Erblande Panner- und Freiherrenstand erhoben, und ihm zugleich sein uralter Familienadel bestätigt. Mit seinen beiden Enkeln: Joseph Emanuel Veit auf Nieder-Traubling, Dengling, Mangolting und Nöham, kurbayer. w. G.Rath und Rentmeister der Regierung von Straubing, und Maximilian (nachher R.Grafen) v. Berchem auf Piesing, Haiming, Ober- und Unter-Türken, Schedling, Rinkam, Schermau, Kollersaich, &c. kurbayer. Kämm., w. G.Rath, Staats- und Conferenz-Minister, Hof-Kammerprasidenten &c., theilte sich die Familie in zwei Hauptlinien.
