FRIESWIJK (Benjamin), geb. te Leeuwarden 18 April 1731, overl. te 's Gravenhage 4 Nov. 1809. Hij studeerde te Franeker en te Utrecht in de godgeleerdheid en werd predikant te Britsum 8 Mei 1754, te Zierikzee 15 Mei 1763, te Leeuwarden 22 Sept. 1765, te Rotterdam 23 Nov. 1766, te 's Gravenhage 27 Sept. 1772; emeritus 21 Aug. 1804. Hij is eerst gehuwd met jonk vr. Isabella Allegonda Vegelin van Claerbergen, overl. in 1769, daarna met Maria Adriana van Alphen, weduwe van J.C. van den Broek, burgemeester te Zierikzee, overl. in 1807. In de werken van het genootschap ‘Kunstliefde spaart geen vlijt’ (dl. V, 174) komt van hem een vertaald werk van de la Motte voor: De gewekte min.
Zijn portret is gegraveerd door M. de Sallieth en in zwarte kunst door B. Bolomey.
