De gravin Marie-Robertine de Beaufort, die het kasteel van Celles zou erven, trouwt in 1761 met Jacques-Ignace de Gavre, graaf van Liedekerke. Hun zoon, Hilarion de Gavre, de eerste graaf van Liedekerke Beaufort, baron van Celles, maarschalk van het hof van de Koning der Nederlanden, trouwde met Julie, dochter van burggraaf Desandrouin, thesaurier-generaal van de Oostenrijkse Nederlanden en kleindochter van de graaf van Neny, President van de Raad der Oostenrijkse Nederlanden.

Hun zoon, Augustus van Gavre, graaf van Liedekerke Beaufort de Celles (1789-1855), ambassadeur van Nederland bij de Pauselijke Staat, trouwde in 1813 met Charlotte (1792-1822), dochter van de markiezin de la Tour du Pin Gouvernet , geboren Henriette-Lucy Dillon. De familie la Tour du Pin stamde af van de oude vorsten van de Dauphiné. De markiezin de la Tour du Pin Gouvernet schreef het "Dagboek van een vijftigjarige vrouw", waarin ze op talentvolle wijze haar herinneringen noteert als hofdame van Marie-Antoinette, de sombere dagen van de Terreur en haar emigratie naar Amerika.

De grootvader van Charlotte, Jean-Frédéric de la Tour du Pin, die de eerste Oorlogsminister was van Louis XVI, getuigde ten gunste van koningin Marie-Antoinette tijdens haar proces en stierf op 28 april 1794 op het schavot. Haar andere grootvader Arthur, Comte Dillon overkwam hetzelfde lot op 13 april 1794.

De zoon van Auguste, Hadelin de Gavre, graaf van Liedekerke Beaufort de Celles, speelde een belangrijke rol op het politieke toneel van België. Hij nam bovendien deel aan de onderhandelingen over het Concordaat tussen Oostenrijk en de Pauselijke Staat.

Zijn zoon, graaf Aymar (1846-1909) en zijn kleinzoon, graaf Hadelin (1887-1974) blijven het kasteel onderhouden zonder er ooit te wonen.
