Notes about Johan Frederik Schertel van Burtenbach

Johann Friedrich, born August 10, 1566 and died 1634. Married Euphrosine von Riedtheim, baroness of Angelberg in 1594. Although he was the oldest surviving son, for some unknown reason, he did not inherit the title of his father, but instead, he was paid off with 145,000 guilders. With help from people familiar with the Middle Ages, I was able to establish that this amount in today's dollar value would be worth anywhere from 10 - 70 million dollars! The family was obviously very rich for the times. A future project will be to find out why he sold his inheritance. In 1616, Johann purchased Mauren Manor- Estate near Maulbronn. Other properties he owned were: Emmersacker, Weitenburg, Boxberg, and Herrenthal, the latter sold to Johann Georg von Werdenau in 1625.
