Anna Neumann von Wasserleonburg (1535–1623) war eine interessante, selbstbewusste Frau der Renaissance. Noch dazu evangelisch. Sie überlebte fünf Ehemänner, darunter mehrere Adelige, ihr Erbe wuchs dadurch ständig. Und sie verlieh Geld. Selbst Kaiser Ferdinand II. stand mit 220.000 Gulden bei ihr in der Kreide. Eine unverschämt hohe Summe. Auch der verschwenderische Fürsterzbischof von Salzburg, Marcus Sitticus, gehörte zu ihren „Klienten“.

Was aber sollte einmal mit dem gigantischen Vermögen der „lustigen Witwe“ geschehen? Die 81-jährige Herrin von Murau, kinderlos, ebenso als ehr- wie als geizig verschrien, hatte sogar einen Hexenprozess überlebt. Jetzt wollte sie ihr Erbe einem Schwarzenberg zukommen lassen. Eine Adoption wäre möglich gewesen, aber der Auserkorene war nicht bereit, seinen Namen abzulegen. Also wurde der um fast fünfzig Jahre jüngere Reichsgraf Georg Ludwig zu Schwarzenberg, dessen Stammbaum sich bis ins 10. Jahrhundert zurückverfolgen lässt, geheiratet. Auf einmal mehr kam es schließlich nicht an.
