In der Nachfolge des verstorbenen Heinrich Kraft (+ 05.07.1966) ist Graf v. Pourtales 1966 bis zu seinem Tode Pfarrer an St. Johannes Baptist.
Nachfolger wird Franz Schnütgen am 06.10.1974.
Unter Dechant v. Pourtales wird die Pfarrkirche 1968 neu ausgemalt. Der Fußboden wird auf einem tieferen Niveau neu erstellt. Gemäß den Vorgaben des 2. Vatikanischen Konzils (Liturgiereform) wird in der Vierung der Kirche eine Altarinsel errichtet.
