Notes about Johan Sweerts Heer van Overrijp

In 1612 werd de Dijkkavel 62 verloot aan Abraham Boom (1575-1642). Hij was na de dood van zijn vader Pieter Boom, een van de oorspronkelijke bedijkers, in 1609 hoofdingeland van de Beemster geworden. In Amsterdam was hij lid van de vroedschap en burgemeester. Abraham Boom was een van de grote investeerders, hij verwierf in totaal 245 morgen grond in de Beemster. Hij liet een huis bouwen op DK62.

In 1635 verkocht hij het huis met de boomgaard en land voor ƒ 30.000 aan Jan Dorhout (1580-1665), koopman te Amsterdam.

In 1644 werd Trijntge Pieters, weduwe van IJsbrant Jansz Wittevoet te Enkhuizen de nieuwe eigenaar. Bij de grote brand in De Rijp in de nacht van 6 op 7 januari 1654 werd de buitenplaats in de as gelegd. Leeghwater schrijft hierover: “De wint was zoo heftig dat hy de brandende vonken dreef tot over de Ring-dijk in de Beemster, alwaar zy ontstaken het dak van een schoone hofstede, die ook aan kolen geraakte.”

Sinds 1679 stond de kavel op naam van Joan Sweers. Joan Sweers was een zoon van Hans Sweers, koopman te Hoorn en bewindhebber van de VOC aldaar. In 1626 werd hij muntmeester van de Westfriese Munt in Enkuizen. Hij was een van de investeerders in de droogmaking van de Beemster. Ook de schoonvader van Joan Sweers, Jan Martsz Merens, had geld gestoken in de droogmaking. De enige dochter van Joan Sweers, Maria, erfde de hofstede in de Beemster.
