1636 : De Commandeur van Ootmarsum Johan Diederik van Heiden sluit met de Duitse Orde een overeenkomst waarbij hij tegen ruiling van zijn landgoed Waldenburg eigenaar werd van de Commanderie Ootmarsum. Hiermee werd de commanderie een Havezathe met vele bezittingen zoals rond de 50 boerderijen in Twente.

1743 : De toenmalige bewoner, Drost van Twente, Frederik Johan Sigismund van Heiden huwt met Eleonora Henrietta Mauritia Hompesch en breidt de tuinen aanzienlijk uit door o.a. aankoop van Erve Wichinck.

1780 : Door Sigismund Vincent Lodewijk Gustaaf van Heiden Hompesch werd het toengenoemde 'Hoge Huys Ootmarsum' geheel vernieuwd en werden de 'ouderwets' beschouwde gebouwen afgebroken.

1804 : Nazaat Anne Willem Carel van Heiden Hompesch gaat met vrouw en dochter wonen op het Hoge Huys Ootmarsum.

1807 : Anne Willem Carel van Heiden Hompesch verdrinkt tijdens het vissen in de vijver. De dochter besloot niet in Ootmarsum te gaan wonen en werden in 1811 alle goederen, ook in Bentheim, te koop gezet.

1833 : Nadat de bezittingen in verschillende onderdelen,percelen en gebouwen aan verschillende kopers waren verkocht en resp. afgebroken, verkocht de toenmalige mede-eigenaar Andreas Berends zijn eigendommen over aan predikant Johannes Palthe.
