Otto Christiaan van Solt was officier in het Staatse Leger. Hij diende in het Regiment van kolonel Karel Lindeboom die van 6 mei 1692 tot 6 september 1695, en diens bevordering op 30 september 1695 tot generaal majoor, commandant van het regiment was. Vanwege die bevordering nam kolonel Bernard Otto Rehbinder het commando over, gevolgd op 13 april 1703 door kolonel Daniel Cuyk van Nierop. Op 19 december 1704 nam kolonel Daniel de Savornin het commando van het Regiment over en bleef dat tot 4 augustus 1727, omdat hij op 11 maart 1727 bevorderd was tot generaal-majoor en later tot luitenant-generaal.
