Hougly 24-9-1706, ingeschreven als student rechten aan de Universiteit van Leiden 5-11-1723 (Martinus Jacobus Huysman, Bengaliensis, 20 (jaar)" sic!), Heer van den Hille, Kiesheer van Middelburg en Bewindhebber der West-Indische Compagnie ter kamer Zeeland, vertrok naar 't vaderland voor de Kamer Amsterdam 1720, ouderling van de Nederduitsch-Hervormde Gemeente te Middelburg (verkozen voor telkens een jaar op 3-5-1734 en 5-5-1737), tr. Middelburg 29-9-1729 Johanna Maria van Citters, geb. Middelburg (1710?), dr. van Mr. Caspar van Citters, Raad-Pensionaris, en Magdalena Verhije.

Na zijn examen op 11.03.1727 vestigt hij zich in Middelburg en wordt er lid van de magistraat, kiesheer, waterbaljuw en bewindhebber WIC. Op 29.09.1729 trouwt hij Johanna Maria van Citters (dr. van raadpensionaris Mr. Caspar v.C. (Buijnsters, Justus van Effen, p. 223). Maarten Jacob en Caspar Huysman worden in 1725 Heer van den Hill (het Altena'se deel van Babyloniënbroek); na Maarten Jacobs dood op 27.11.1738 volgt Anthony Huysman hem in 1739 als Heer van den Hill op; zie W.A. van Ham.
