Notes about Cornelis Huijgens

In alle bestaande genealogiën komt als oudst bekende stamvader voor, Cornelis Huygens, van wien men niets weet, dan dat hij een zoon naliet, Laurens genaamd, die huwde met N.N. van der Strate, bij wien hij een zoon Cornelis verwekte. Deze Cornelis Huygens te Breda in 1550 of 1551 overleden, was gehuwd met Geertrui Back (dochter van Christiaan Jan bij Lucia Back) die in 1556 overleed.
Zij stamde van vaderszijde uit het aanzienlijke geslacht Bacx, "gesproten ende gecomen synde uten verdroncken werden tussen Dordrecht, Geertruydenberg, Strijen &c.;
