HOLTIUS (Mr. Gualtherus), geb. te Koudekerk 25 Juli 1791 en daar gedoopt 21 Aug., overl. te Haarlem 17 Juli 1865; zoon van Hendrik Holtius Lans en van Adriana Catharina Vosmaer.
Hij voerde dus den naam Lans niet bij den zijnen. Hij trad in April 1815 in dienst bij de comp. vrijwillige infanterie, nationale militie ambtenaren (commandant: majoor J. van der Linden). Ging op marsch naar Frankrijk in Juli 1815, geretourneerd en plechtstatig ingehaald in 's Gravenhage 10 Sept. 1815 en 30 Nov. eervol ontslagen. Was van 1830-1840 rustbewaarder bij de plaatsel. schutterij te 's Gravenhage.
Als ontvanger der registratie geïnstalleerd te Loenen (Utr.) 1 Januari 1814, te Kuilenburg 8 Sept. 1816; 2e commies ter centrale administratie van de reg. en dom. 13 April 1818; verificateur van idem 3 Febr. 1819; idem in de prov. N. Holl. en Utr. 20 Mei 1823; idem 1e kl. in de prov. Overijsel 10 Dec. 1825; inspecteur der reg. en dom. in N. Holl. 13 Maart 1827; idem in N. Brab. 26 Oct. 1828; provinc. inspecteur der reg., dir. belast in- en uitg. rechten en accijnsen in Utrecht 18 Oct. 1829.
Inspecteur-generaal van idem idem bij het depart. van financiën 23 Febr. 1843; idem, belast met de afd. registr. en loterijen bij dat departement 20 Dec. 1843; ontheven van dat gedeelte der inspect. gener. werkzaamheden, hetwelk de directie der registr. en loterijen betreft 2 Oct. 1855. Eervol ontslag, behoudens aanspraak op pensioen, 10 Jan. 1857.
Hij werd 6 Dec. 1847 benoemd tot staatsraad i.b.d. Hij was doctor jur. hon. causa en lid van het Utrechtsch Genootschap; zijn laatste levensdagen wijdde hij aan het ordenen en beschrijven van de oude familiepapieren in zijn bezit en aan het nasporen van de herkomst van zijn geleerd geslacht, waardoor menige bizonderheid aan de vergetelheid werd ontrukt.
Zijn stoffelijk overschot werd naar Scheveningen overgebracht en op ‘Ter Navolging’ in het familiegraf bijgezet.
Holtius huwde te Voorburg 5 April 1820 met Elisabeth Cornelie Vosmaer, geb. te 's Gravenhage 12 Juli 1799, overl. op den huize ‘Schoonoord’ te Rijswijk 17 Jan. 1850; dochter van Mr. Willem Carel (zie kol. 599 op Gualtherus) en van diens tweede vrouw Jacoba Maria Scheltus. Uit dit huwelijk sproten 8 kinderen, t.w.: Wilhelmina Jacoba H. gehuwd met Dr. Hendrik Boursse Wils; Hendrik Adriaan Cecilius H., majoor der artillerie, uit wiens huwelijk met Johanna Caroline Henriëtte van Walchren geen kinderen zijn geboren; Margaretha Jacoba H., ongehuwd overl.; Gualtherus; Jacob Willem Holtius ontvanger der belastingen; Adriana Catharina Cornelie Elisabeth H., ongeh. overl.; Louise Maria Lucretia H., gehuwd met Diederik Willem v. Walchren, kapitein der artillerie; en Nicolaas Karel H., gehuwd met Johanna Elisabeth Vosmaer.
Uit het huwelijk van Jacob Willem Holtius, voornoemd, met Johanna Carolina van den Broeke, sproten drie kinderen, waarvan Nicolaas Caro Louis Holtius tabaksplanter in Deli, in 1898 den naam Lans bij den zijnen aannam en alz o den naam Holtius Lans weder deed herleven. Hij overleed echter ongehuwd 5 November 1907 te Nordrach.
Van Gualtherus en zijn vrouw E.C. Vosmaer berusten fraaie miniatuurportretten bij de familie, geschilderd door P.J. Lutgers te Loenen in 1822.
