San Jose Mercury, Mar. 5, 1907, p.10. "Thomas W. Mitchell, husband of Mrs. Martha Mitchell, father of Mrs. Ada M. Chrisman and Frank E. Mitchell, grandfather of Mrs. James Brace and Miss Georgie Worthington, a native of Scotland, aged 81 years, 3 months and 3 days." (Calculated birth date.)

San Jose Mercury, Mar. 6, 1907, p.2. "Thomas W. Mitchell, an old and respected resident of Los Gatos, was buried from the family home today on Saratoga avenue. Mr. Mitchell was born in Fifeshire, Scotland, and in early life settled in Kenosha, Wis. With his brother he conducted a large manufacturing business. Mr. Mitchell resided in this State a great many years and was well and favorably known. He is survived by a widow, Martha Mitchell, a daughter, Mrs. Ada Chrisman, and a son, Frank E. Mitchell, chairman of the Board of Supervisors, and Mrs. James Brace and Miss Georgie Worthington of San Francisco, granddaughters. The interment was in the family plot in Oak Hill."

Thomas's wife, Martha Mitchell, died in San Jose on Nov. 4, 1925, at the age of 97 years, 11 months, and 29 days. (Oakland Tribune, Nov 6, 1925.)
