Hij werkte als boerenknecht bij J.Verduin en stond ingeschreven van 20 maart 1894 tot 30 januari 1897. Jan Rood Is overleden in het bejaarden huis Sint Rosa welke later de Horstenburgh ging heten te Obdam in mei 1959. Jan is altijd vrijgezel gebleven.
