Reconstrueerde de eertse decennia van deze eeuw een tekening van deze kapitale hofstede naar zeer oppervlakkige schetsen van A. van der Poest Clement. In 17\867 werd het bouwerk gesloopt, maar de prachtigerijk versierde eikenhouten dubbele bedstede werd overgebracht naar het museum van oudheden te Rotterdam.

    Door het huwelijk met een ongeveer 8 jaar oudre weduwe kwam Willem min of meer in een gespreid beje terecht. Vrijwel onmiddelijk kreeg hij zitting in het dorpsbestuur van Poortugaal en in 1614 wist hij het schoutambt naar zich toe te trekken, dat voorheen door zijn schoonvader was uitgeoefend.
