Op 17-6-1817 wordt Zelf van Zeijst gelast het gras te maaien aan de Eemdijk en Eembrug, zoals dit van oudsher door Hendrik van Alst is gedaan. (bron: d'AB II blz. 257).
In 1825 werd Baarn getroffen door een dijkdoorbraak. Zelf van Zeijst was helaas één van de getroffene en kwam voor op de lijst met inwoners die schade hadden geleden.
