Van dit gezin is ook een JOKOS-dossier (nummer 17769) aanwezig op het Gemeentearchief van Amsterdam. Voor inzage is toestemming nodig van de stichting Joods Maatschappelijk Werk. Uit het JOKOS-dossier is bekend dat er een claim is ingediend voor vergoeding van waardevolle voorwerpen ingeleverd bij de roofbank Lippmann-Rosenthal (L-claim, nummer 7553/7880).

Jozef werd op 5 juni 1880 in Assen geboren. Zijn echtgenote, Sara Lezer–Speijer, was geboren op 15 september 1891 in Rotterdam. Daar trouwden zij op 5 oktober 1922. Zij werden ingeschreven in Baarn op 11 november 1938, kerkgenootschap Nederlands-Israëlitisch. Voor zover bekend kwamen zij uit een welgestelde familie, waarvan de waardevolle bezittingen in handen vielen van de beruchte Lippmann-Rosenthal bank. Daar is ook, helaas vergeefs, officieel een claim voor teruggave ingediend. Het Baarnse Bevolkingsregister geeft aan dat zij op 15 oktober 1942 naar Amsterdam vertrokken. In die tijd vertrokken veel joodse Baarnaars naar Amsterdam. De omstandigheden in die tijd kennende, veronderstellen wij dat het onvrijwillig is geweest. In het boekje ‘Baarn in Oorlogstijd’ van J.K. van Loon lezen wij dat op 28 september 1942 de eerste Jood in Baarn door de Sicherheitspolizei werd gearresteerd. Of dat de heer en mevrouw Lezer waren is niet zeker. In ieder geval hoorden zij tot de groep die via de Hollandse Schouwburg werd gedeporteerd.

In het Baarnse bevolkingsregister vond Bert Onclin bij zijn onderzoek indertijd geen verdere details. Het is echter vrijwel zeker dat de heer en mevrouw Lezer gedwongen naar Amsterdam gingen. Beiden kwamen op 29 september 1943 in Westerbork aan. Van daaruit gingen zij op 19 oktober 1943 naar Auschwitz, waar beiden vrijwel direct na aankomst op 22 oktober 1943 werden vermoord.
