De heer en mevrouw Bakker, de ouders van Elizabeth Trijntje, hadden en grote bazaar “De rokende Amerikaan” in de Spoorstraat in Den Helder. Vanwege oorlogsdreiging en gevaar huurde vader Bakker voor hun enige dochter Elizabeth (Beppie) een pand aan de Brinkstraat nr 17 in Baarn. Ze was daar dan veilig en men opende daar “De Helderse Bazaar”. Bep was toen 18 jaar en woonde daar op zichzelf en dreef de zaak later met hulp van een winkeljuffrouw “Tiny”.
