Na de verhuizing van dochter Annie en haar echtgenoot Theo Hendriksen naar de Drakenburgerweg, trouwde Arie Overeem op zijn 70ste met Will Buijse (35), de zuster van Jo de Vries-Buijse die aan de overkant op Nachtegaallaan 2 samen met haar man Piet een melkzaak had. Ze hebben het jaren samen heel gezellig gehad. Arie Overeem werd door iedereen Oatje genoemd, Spakenburgs voor opa. Hij was een man met humor die van (dames)gezelschap en gezelligheid hield.
Toen ik in 1969 vol trots mijn eerste zoon kwam laten zien bij Oatje en tante Will, zei hij: Heb je die nou helemaal zelf gemaakt?
Na het overlijden van Arie in 1972 is zijn vrouw Will Overeem-Buijse ook naar Tasmanië geëmigreerd.
