Notes about Wilhelmus Franciscus "Willem" Pen

Wilhelmus Franciscus Pen was een landbouwer. Na zijn eerste huwelijk in 1841 woonde hij tot ongeveer 1855 in Soest en daarna weer in Baarn. Uit zijn eerste huwelijk met Cornelia Butselaar zijn zeven dochters en twee zonen geboren. Eén zoon stierf zeer jong, de andere, Hermanus op 30-jarige leeftijd in 1879 zonder kinderen na te laten. De Baarnse geschiedschrijver Teunis Pluim vermeldt in zijn notities dat Wilhelmus Franciscus is vernoemd naar zijn grootvader van moeders zijde: Wilhelmus Schimmel, logementshouder te Soestdijk en naar zijn oom Franciscus Pen, onze "maire".
