In de Nieuwe Amersfoortsche Courant van 2 augustus 1893 stond deze advertentie:
Aanbesteding. De Architect A.B. Swets, Fabriek Landmeter v/d Krimpenerwaard te Lekkerkerk, is voornemens op zaterdag, den 12 Augustus 1893, te Spakenburg gemeente Bunschoten, publiek aan te besteden: het bouwen van een burgerwoonhuis voor den heer B. Geuchies te Spakenburg. Bestekken en teekening zijn ad f 1,- verkrijgbaar te Spakenburg en bij den architect.

Waar de uitslag van de publieke aanbesteding zou plaatsvinden stond er niet bij. Voor publieke zaken zoals de verkoop van woningen werd eind negentiende eeuw vaak "het koffiehuis van H. Dekkkers te Bunschoten" gebruikt. Om welke Geuchies ging het eigenlijk? Berend Geuchies, 43 jaar en geboren op 2 april 1850 in Rotterdam, was een zoon van de plaatselijke predikant ds. H.B. Geuchies en werd aangesteld tot gemeente-ontvanger. Hij oefende in het dorp tevens het beroep uit van "telefoonhouder". Zijn woonhuis-met-kantoortje op de hoek van de Zuidwenk en Kon. Wilhelminastraat vormde het centrale adres om tegen vergoeding te kunnen bellen.
