Anscheinend war die Hof-Folge auf dem väterlichen Huxen Hof zu Endorf bereits geklärt, als er alt genug war, den Hof hätte übernehmen zu können. Zunächst hatte seine Mutter ein zweites Mal geheiratet (Bernhard Linnemann), kurz darauf im Jahr 1687 heiratete seine älteste Schwester Jacob Brockhaus, der dann den Hof übernahm. Johannes wurde Gutsverwalter auf den Hof des Schulten zu Lohhof und heiratete nach dessen Tod im Jahr 1701 die Witwe Anna Margaretha geb. Spanken gt. Clöwer.
