    Geertje kent in haar jeugd barre tijden. Met een riem om haar middel loopt ze vaak over het âÇoeJagerspadâÇÑ om de tjalk voort te trekken als er weer eens geen zuchtje wind staat. Haar liefde voor Opoe Kraan, wonend aan het âÇoePaadje van duizend treeâÇÑ in Overschie is immens. Er zijn
    familiefeesten en de kleermakers in de familie zorgen ervoor dat iedereen er goedgekleed bij loopt.

    Geertje wilt op een gegeven moment Truus genoemd worden. De intense liefde is voelbaar voor haar man Henk Spoel. Hij is, in tegenstelling tot zijn brute vader, een welgemanierde man uit een voormalig regenten geslacht uit Leyden (Leiden). In 1934 speelt er zich een familiedrama af. Ook wordt de familie Spoel veelvuldig geplaagd door TBC. Wanneer de tweede wereldoorlog aanbreekt moet men creatief met de honger omgaan.

    Uit de relatie tussen Truus en Henk wordt een dochter geboren, Jenny. Helaas overlijdt Henk aan TBC en staat Truus er alleen voor. Jaren later
    trouwt ze met Dirk Spoel, de broer van Henk. Er doemen papieren op over mensen uit Leyden uit de 17e en 18e eeuw. Niemand weet hoe het zit en
    wat er waar van is.

    Op late leeftijd krijgen Truus en Dirk nog twee dochters en krijgt Jenny een relatie met een Crooswijker. Kleinkinderen dienen zich aan.

    Met het komen en gaan van generaties breekt er een moment aan dat ook het idyllische leven op Terbregge moet worden verruild tegen de betonblokken van de Alexanderpolder.

    Deze hele geschiedenis kwam aan het licht toen de oudste kleindochter (Jacqueline Herrema -Kooman) een zoektocht in gang zette naar haar grootouders en haar papieren werden overhandigd. Het verhaal werd geschreven...
