BUSTI, NY — Martha M. Carlson, 95, of 4619 Baker St., Ext, Lakewood, formerly of Falconer passed away Friday (April 8, 2011) in her home with her loved ones at her side.

A lifelong area resident she was born April 20, 1915 in Ashville, NY, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mattie Lanning Mathews.

She was the widow of Lawrence A. "Buster" Carlson whom she married October 22, 1939 in Russell, PA and who died February 12, 1983.

In earlier years Martha was employed by National Worsted Mills and Jamestown Plywood. For most of her life Martha was a homemaker and had cleaned houses for many years.

Martha enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She hosted countless family gatherings over the years. She will always be remembered for her unyielding devotion to her entire family.

Surviving are two daughters: Nancy (Clayton) Crooks, Sebring, FL, Alberta Preston, Germantown, MD; a son Lawrence E. "Larry" (Faith) Carlson, Perrysburg, NY; Grandchildren: Jeffrey L.(Patti) Flanders, Neil D. Flanders all of West Ellicott, Shelley K. (Fred) Sundheimer, Canton, OH, Laura A. (Jimmy) Smith, Lakewood, NY, Denise R. (Pete) Eyler, Sugar Grove, PA, Connie Burton (Bill Rissmiller), Mark Crooks, Sebring, FL, Sandra Preston (Vicky Lewis),Jamestown, NY, Scott B. (Lan) Preston, Germantown, MD, Stephen M. Preston, Todd A. (Jeana) Preston, all of League City, TX, Kellie S. (Glenn) Anderson, Wexford, PA, Candy Flanders, Lakewood, NY; Great Grandchildren: Micah A. (Tammy Roth) Meredith, Andrew T. (Erika) Meredith, Keylyn J. (Charlie) Grgurich, Sean Bernhardt, Kelsey L. (Josh Monroe) Flanders, Erin A. Meredith, Elijah, Ryleigh and Savannah Palmer , Abigail Monroe, Allison Grgurich, Benjamin and Ella Sundheimer, Kyle Couchenour, Alana Doutt, Natalie Harrell. A sister, Mary Stebbins of Lakewood, NY and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Carol S. Ecker, two grandsons: Keith D. Flanders, David Crooks, three sisters: Florence Steinhoff, Vivian Davis, Harriet Folwell, five brothers: Kenneth, Robert, Stanley, John Mathews and Elmer Mathews.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Rick Keefer of Fluvanna Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville.
