Family: The Dutch patronymic surname ANEMA (ah-nah-mah) originated in theFriesland Province, The Netherlands. There are known to be about 7distinct ANEMA family lines, at least 2 with roots in Tzummarum where myancestor adopted the surname ANEMA following the Napoleanic decree of1811, which made fixed surnames a law. As was common for the province,the suffix -ma was appended to Ane, the name of the paternal ancestor.The name was registered 28 February 1813 by his grandson Feddrik Pietersin Sexbierum.1
