They got married on October 31, 1734 at holten.

Onderstaande personen genaamd Potman en Po(d)t hebben hun roots liggen en hun achternaam te danken aan de al lang verdwenen herberg de Oude of Kleine Pot, toen gelegen op de huidige splitsing Potdijk-Potkamp in Herike bij Markelo.

De Oude Pot zal ver voor 1600 al zijn gesticht; het huidige Cafe de Pot lijkt vooralsnog in de 17e eeuw te zijn ontstaan. Beide panden worden echter een paar eeuwen als cafe en herberg genoemd.
De Oude Pot is in de 80-jarige oorlog (1568-1648) verwoest geweest.
In 1682 zou een vrouw Stabbe eigenaar zijn van het pand en in 1752 een familie Sprakel uit Goor; in 1753 kopen pachters Jan Hofman en zijn vrouw Harmken Potman de herberg met enkele stukken grond voor f 550 van Sprakel.
Het is tot 1823 bewoond geweest door nazaten Potman, want in dat jaar verkoopt het echtpaar Holstege-Potman de boerderij/herberg aan Wolter Stoelhorst.

De bewoners van de Pot hadden nog al wat (huwelijks-)relaties met Holten. Aldaar noemden zij zich Pot of Podt en de in Markelo blijvende nazaten gingen als Potman verder door het leven.

De laatste bewoner van de Oude Pot was vrijgezel Gerrit Jan Schreurs die in 1955 overleed. Kort daarna is de boerderij afgebroken.
