Gillis woonde (1561) te Hodenpijl,; hij was welgeboren man van Delfland, taxateur van de 100ste penning Hodenpijl, leenman van Hontshol en van De Lek en Polanen.
Hij wordt in 1549 vermeld als pachter te Vlaardingen, later te Maasland.
In Hodenpijl had hij huis, bergen en geboomte en verschillende percelen land in pacht.
In 1575 compareert hij namens zijn vrouw om een procueur te benoemen bij de broer en zus van haar. Na de dood van Rusgen (zus) krijgt Gillis de voogdij over haar 3 minderjarige kinderen.
Na zijn hertrouwen vrijwaart hij de evt. schulden van haar eerste man Pieter.
