La famille Henricot à Court-Saint-Étienne

Par son engagement, en 1866, comme directeur technique à la société ± Les forges, fonderie, platinerie et émaillerie de Court-Saint-Étienne » qui occupait 70 personnes, Émile Henricot vient s’établir dans la commune. Il en devient rapidement propriétaire et fait prospérer l’usine pour occuper plus de 1000 personnes à son décès en 1910. L’usine fut plus tard connue mondialement sous le nom ± Les Usines Émile Henricot », jusqu’à sa fermeture en 1984.

Émile Henricot est né à Ham-sur-Sambre le 29 janvier 1838. Sa famille a habité longtemps la région de Namur et Gembloux. Depuis le milieu du 18e siècle, une branche s’est installée à la ferme du Fayat , commune de Saint-Martin où son oncle était l’exploitant de la ferme. Son père, Alexis, vint s’installer à Franière en 1832 et Émile y passa toute sa jeunesse. Son père et son grand père, Norbert, furent tous deux bourgmestres de Ham-sur-Sambre. Émile sortit en 1863 de l’Université de Liège avec les diplômes d’ingénieur civil des mines et des arts et manufactures. Il décéda, en pleine activité, à Alexandrie, le 12 mars 1910.  Émile Henricot épousa Anne Rucquoy (1851-1929) en 1868 et ils eurent 4 enfants dont 2 décédés en bas âge. Ferdinand(1871-1933) et Paul (1873-1948) continuèrent l’œuvre de leur père aux Usines Émile Henricot.

Paul Henricot épousa Célina Cousin (1880-1969) et eurent 2 enfants :Jacques (1903-1970), qui épousa Andrée Nolf, dont ils eurent 3 enfants Paul,Jean et Jacqueline, toujours en vie  ; Suzanne épousa le baron Pierre Warnant, également administrateur aux Usines Émile Henricot.

Quatre générations d’ingénieurs civils se succédèrent ainsi aux rênes des UEH.
