At the age of 40 Hans Jacob Mosher travelled with his family aboard the ship "Speedwell". They arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia May 18, 1751. His occupation is recorded as "Smith". They were included in the "Foreign Protestants" who were wooed to Nova Scotia for the promise of land grants. Hans Jacob and his family were transported by flotilla to Lunenburg, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. The settlers endured years of hardship. There were raids on Lunenburg by the natives; there was a lack of utensils and materials; there was the loss of family. Through it all, the Mosher family flourished and there are many descendants in Nova Scotia today. There may have been one more daughter Anna Maria. Sources Nova Scotia Archives.
