    Kuinre (Nedersaksisch: De Kuunder) is een plaats in de gemeente Steenwijkerland in de Nederlandse provincie Overijssel. De inwoners worden Kuundersen genoemd. Kuinre lag vroeger aan de rivieren de Linde en de Kuinder, die door de Friezen De Tsjonger werd genoemd en door Stellingwervers de Kuunder.

    Het dorp werd gesticht door vissers, doordat zij huizen bouwden op de landtong tussen beide rivieren. De monding van beide rivieren was een van de beste natuurlijke havens van de Zuiderzee. Kuinre groeide uit tot een bescheiden vissers- en havenplaatsje.
