De overlijdensakten van Jacobus Zondervan en vier van zijn collega’s zijn gedateerd op 19 juni 1944 en opgemaakt in Tilburg.

Zondervan, JacobusJacobus Zondervan woont vóór de oorlog met zijn ouders en drie broers in Leiden. Tijdens de oorlog is Jacobus echter vaak in Friesland en Groningen. Hij is marechaussee van beroep en in Dokkum gestationeerd. Samen met vier collega’s is Jacobus actief in het verzet. Zij maken allen vrij snel deel uit van de LO in Groningen en geven dienstberichten met belangrijke informatie door aan het verzet. Op 10 juni 1943 krijgt collega Fokkens, een mede- verzetsstrijder, zijn eigen arrestatiebevel in handen. Kort daarna worden alle vijf marechaussees door de Duitsers opgepakt.

Gevangen gezet
Jacobus en zijn collega’s zitten korte tijd opgesloten in het Huis van Bewaring in Groningen, en daarna in het Oranjehotel in Scheveningen. Vermoedelijk worden ze daarna overgebracht naar de Untersuchungs- und Polizei Gefängnis in Haaren, Noord Brabant. Dit zou kunnen verklaren waarom op de overlijdensakte de plaats Tilburg staat vermeld. Haaren behoort in 1944 tot de regio Tilburg. Voor zover bekend zijn Jacobus Zondervan en zijn vier collega’s rond 18 juni 1944 gefusilleerd. Zoals gezegd, zijn de overlijdensakten op 19 juni 1944 gedateerd en wel te Tilburg.
