Leentje is waarschijnlijk overleden voordat haar zus Helena Martens werd geboren ivm de overeenkomst in de naam. Dat zou dan voor 1758 zijn. Leentje is dan 7 of 8 jaar geworden.

Jacobus is vrij beroemd geworden. Er wordt vermeld dat hij bij zijn geboorte in een 'achterbuurt' woonde. Hij werd gedoopt op 10 sep 1752 te Groningen. Tussen 1762 en 1765 woont hij samen met zijn jongere broer en twee zussen drie jaar in het Nieuwe Stadsweeshuis te Leeuwarden. Hij is in die tijd in de leer bij Dirk Pars, de Stads-Chirurgijn, en twee jaar bij Adriaan van der Duyn, Stads-Chirurgijn te Amsterdam. Vanaf 1765, als hij 13 jaar is, gaat hij in de leer bij Dirk Pars, de Stads-Chirurgijn te Leeuwarden. In 1768 als hij 15/16 jaar is wordt hij bevorderd tot knecht van Dirk Pars te Leeuwarden. In 1771 als hij 19 jaar is gaat hij werken bij Adriaan van der Duyn, Stads-Chirurgijn te Amsterdam. Hij blijft daar tot 1774. Als hij 22 jaar is gaat hij in 1774 als 2e meester chirurgijn bij de Oost Indische Compagnie naar Indonesie (Oost-Indië). Hij doet dit vier jaar tot 1778. In 1778 wordt hij Opper-Doctor op Oost/Indisch Compagnieschip de Vrijheid, en gaat via Batavia naar de Molukken.Hij is dan 25/26 jaar. in 1781 als hij 28/29 jaar is, wordt hij oppermeester of Doctor in het Ambachtskwartier te Batavia. Als hij 31/32 is wordt hij Chirurgijn-Majoor van het eerste Bataillon Infanterie te Batavia. In 1784. Dan trouwt hij in 1784 met met Maria Magdalena Baljée. In 1786 als hij 34 jaar is wordt hij ambteloos burger, met een landgoed enkele uren van Batavia, waar hij 6000 mensen in dienst heeft. In 1788 heeft hij Onderscheidene Eereposten in de buurt van Batavia. Hij is dan 36 jaar. In 1797 als hij 44/45 jaar is wordt hij burgemeester, en is kolonel der Inlandsche troepen, zit in de Raad van Neerlands Indië in Batavia. In 1802 als hij 49/50 is wordt hij directeur der Hollandsche Maatschappij van Wetenschappente Haarlem. Tussen 1800 en 1808 worden de volgende beroepen genoemd: Commissaris van de hospitalen, president van het college van schepenen te Batavia en raad-extra-ordinair te Batavia. In 1808 als hij 55/56 is verzoekt hij ontslag. Hij leeft dan verder in stille rust in Indonesie. Op 21 feb 1823 overlijdt hij in Tandjoeng, Indonesië. Hij is dan 70 jaar. Kinderloos gebleven gaf hij zijn nalatenschap aan het Nieuwe Stads-Weeshuis in Leeuwarden.Op 9 sep 1835 werd op de ruime binnenplaats van het Nieuwe Stadsweeshuis te Leeuwarden een gietijzeren gedenkzuil opgericht voor Baljee vanwege zijn liefdadigheid. Helaas is die zuil verdwenen bij werkzaamheden.

Johannes is getrouwd met Willemijntje. Ze kregen toen hij 26 jaar oud was een dochter Grietje Johannes Baljée te Leeuwarden op 24 feb 1782. Waarschijnlijk is hij nog een tweede keer getrouwd. Dat lees je in zijn overlijdensacte. Johannes is overleden op 25 april 1812 te Franeker. Hij was toen 57 jaar. Dit is op 27 april aangegeven. genoemde datum is doopdatum. Lena is getrouwd op 28 jarige leeftijd met Hermannus van Sandbergen (van Zandbergen)te Leeuwarden op 20 mei 1787. Ze kregen een zoon. Lena is overleden op 23 maart 1828 te Dokkum. Zij was toen 70 jaar.
