Schoenen die oom Teun voorzag van een nieuwe zool,
Nam Wim mee naar de klanten, op weg naar school.
Het was wel een beetje uit eigen belang,
Want voor één of twee centen, liep hij kilometers lang.

Zo kwam hij eens bij een dikke boerin.
Zij greep met haar hand in die grote zak,
Die zij onder haar jurk en schort verborgen had.
Wim keek met grote ogen in de hand van de boerin,
Daar zat nu letterlijk van alles in.
Centen, stuivers, garen, band, guldens en ook nog een vingerhoed.
Hij dacht “Nu wordt mijn dag pas goed”.
Want die hand ging niet één, maar wel driemaal in die zak,
Toen eindelijk de boerin heel vriendelijk sprak:
“Nee jochie, ik heb geen halfie meer,
Misschien wel op een andere keer”.
Als hij voortaan kwam bij zo’n klant,
Smeet hij de schoenen in de gang, helemaal naar de andere kant.
