Men deed in 1693 belijdenis te Oud-Beijerland, terwijl zijn eerste vrouw Aryaentje Kornelisdr.
Bravenboer genoemd wordt op eenvan omstreeks 1710 daterende lidmatenlijst van
die gemeente. 170
Bij zijn eerste huwelijk was Adr(iaen) Celosse getuige. Ary van der Swaenweigerde in 1706
de eed als schepen van Oud-Beijerland af te leggen, omdat hij gevrijwaard wenste te blijven
van de schulden enz. van het gerecht ter plaatse. Op 23 maart 1707 werd hij door de
Staten van Holland gelast om zijn bediening te aanvaarden, waarna hij op 30 maart d.a.v.
alsnog de eed aflegde. 171 In het verpondingskohier uit 1718 wordt Arien vermeld als b ~ i -
ker van 43 morgen 528 van de vrouwe van Puttershoek in de polder Oud-Beijerland. 172
Zijn kinderen staan op 27 dec. 1720 als gebruikers van dit land genoteerd, maar in het volgende
jaar staan deze weer op zijn eigen naam geboekt. in
Mogelijk had Arien vanwege ziekte zijn boerderij door zijn kinderen laten voortzetten.
Een akte van 4 juni 1719 noemt hem in elk geval als ziek zijnde. 174
Geertruyt Verrij was vermoedelijk identiek met de Geertmi Jans Vrij, die op 20 april 1710
te Westmaas lidmaat werd met attestatie van Den Hitzert. 175
