Notes about rhijn ROBBEMOND

Rhein en zijn eerste vrouw vertrokken in 1856 naar Dubbeldam. Het ging hun daar niet voor de wind. In 1859 klopten zij aan bij het burgerlijk armbestuur om bijstand. De gemeente 's-Gravendeel, nog enige jaren verantwoordelijk voor vertrokken inwoners, wilde alleen de huishuur compenseren met 50 cent per week en verder niets: "Indien arbeiders in de kracht huns levens en in gezonde dagen bij overvloed van werk reeds ondersteuning vorderen en men daarin bewilligen moete, dan zullen de meer gegoede ingezetenen spoedig onder de lasten bezwijken".
De werkloosheid van Rhein had een reden. Hij tobde met zijn gezondheid en ook vrouw en kinderen waren regelmatig ziek.
