Notes about arie MORET

Arie bezorgt in 1830 de burgemeester van 's-Gravendeel de nodige problemen. Hij moet namelijk, zoals alle verlofgangers, in september opkomen als militair in verband met de spanningen die er zijn rondom de afscheiding van de zuidelijke provincies van Nederland. De Belgen willen zelfstandig worden en de Nederlandse Regering wil dit met militair vertoon tegengaan.
Als de veldwachter op de 31e augustus 1830 de huizen langs gaat om de oproepen bij de verlofgangers te bezorgen hoort hij van de moeder en stiefvader van Arie dat hij al meer dan vier weken als aardwer ker werkzaam is in Zaandam. Burgemeester Elshoff schrijft aan de Staatsraad, gouverneur van Zuid- Holland: "ik vind mij hierdoor in de grootste engte gebragt, heden 1e september moeten mijne verlof gangers afmarcheren om op donderdag den 2e september 1830 ten bepaalde tijd in de Koekamp te kunnen weze, de milicien Moret kan dus voor die tijd niet hier zijn, noch te 's-Gravenhage".
Overigens komt alles goed, want op 7 september schrijft Elshoff dat "Arie Moret, Fuselier bij het reservebataillon 4e kompagnie der 9e afdeeling Infanterie in guarnisoen te Utrecht" die dag naar Utrecht is gestuurd.
