Payne de Cadurcis, or Chaworth, aged 13 in 1257, died 1278, and was the in the wardship of his mother. He accompanied Prince Edward to the Holy Land. He was of age 2 Edward I, and commanded West Wales 5 Edward I. He died without issue.
Patrick de Cadurcis, died 1282, and married Isabel, the daughter of William de Beauchamp, Earl of Warwick.

This last William was the father of Maurice de Londres; Thomas de Londres, lord of Ogmore, Kidwelly and East Garston & the father of Hawise wife of Patrick de Cadurcis; and Henry de Londres, Archbisop of Dublin. 988

Agreement (chirograph) between Patrick de Chaworth (Chauz) and Hawise de London, his wife, and Henry de Tracy, concerning the manor of East Garston, Berkshire and the advowson of the church. If the said Patrick have no heirs by the said Hawise, the manor and advowson to revert to the heris of Hawise. If Hawise die before she have heirs by the said Patrick, the manor and advowson, which they have granted to Eve de Tracy for life, shall revert at the death of the said Eve to Patrick, for life, and at his death to the heirs of Hawise.

This document was apparently created at the time Patrick de Chaworth married Hawise de London, the half-sister of Henry de Tracy. This would have been on or before before 19 Dec. 1243, when Patrick and Hawise were known to have been married. The document also shows that Hawise's mother, Eve Fitz Warin, wife of Oliver de Tracy (died 1210) and Thomas de London (died before 1221) went by the name, Eve de Tracy, in the 1240's. This does not preclude the possibility that Eve Fitz Warin married (3rd) Thomas Mauduit (died 1244).

Hawise de London had another half-sibling, Eve de Tracy, who married Warin de Bassingbourne, of Cambridgeshire. Eve (de Tracy) de Bassingbourne's identity is proven by the Curia Regis Rolls, which shows she was the sister of Henry de Tracy. She had the manor of Morebath, Devon as her maritagium. It passed to her son, Warin de Bassingbourne, Jr.

The Welsh chronicles record that, in 1190, the Lord Rhys built the castle of Kidwelly. This entry probably reflects a native conquest of the settlement, but the Normans must have recovered it before 1201, when Meredith, son of Rhys, was slain by the garrison of the castle. In 1215 Rhys Grug, another son of the Lord Rhys, captured Kidwelly and burnt the castle. He remained in possession until 1220, when Llywelyn the Great forced him to restore these conquests. The male line of the de Londres had become extinct during these troubles, and Kidwelly had passed to an heiress, Hawise. In 1225 she married Walter de Braose, who died during the campaign of 1233-4. Kidwelly Castle was by that date again in the possession of the Welsh as a result of the rising of 1231, when Llywelyn the Great, previously a supporter of the royal authority, had turned his arms against Henry III. Hawise de Londres, left a widow, was unable to regain possession of Kidwelly which, in 1242, was still held by Rhys's son Meredith. Two years later Hawise married Patrick de Chaworth, who seems to have recovered these lands soon after this date. The Welsh rising of 1257 involved the destruction of the settlement at Kidwelly, but the invaders failed to capture the castle. Patrick was slain during the campaign of the following year, and the wardship of his lands was granted to Hawise during the minority of their son Payn.

Henry III King of England granted licence for the marriage of "Waltero de Braosa" and "Hawisie filie et heredis…Thome de London", with "honore de Kedewelli et de Cadewathlan…maritagium", dated 11 Jul 1223[851]. This group of lordships had had their rise in the early years of Norman conquest in Wales when William de Londres, after the conquest of Glamorgan (c. 1091—93), probably received from Robert Fitzhamon a grant of the lordship of Ogmore, to be held by the service of four knights at Cardiff Castle. The castle of Ogmore, a stone structure of early date, may well have been the work of William, but whether the family was also established at Ebbwy at this early period is difficult to determine, though it is significant that a Norman mound marks the site.

William, on his death, was succeeded (c. 1126) by his better-known son, Maurice de Londres, the founder of Ewenny Priory (1141). It was about the same time that Maurice received at the hands of Henry I the lordships of Kidwelly and Carnwallon which Roger, Bishop of Salisbury, the King’s Justiciar, had established in these two Welsh commotes occupying the coastal belt between the river Loughor and the estuary of the Towy. It is not unlikely that Roger found himself unequal to the task of defending this frontier territory which, therefore, reverted to the Crown, to be granted, perhaps as early as 1128, to Maurice, who was certainly well established in Kidwelly by the year 1136.

During the century which followed, these family estates passed first to the son and later to the grandson of Maurice until, on the failure of the male line by the death of Thomas de Londres (c. 1223), the inheritance descended to his daughter Hadwisa de Londres. She married (c. 1244) Patrick de Chaworth (I) who, in defence of his own lordships and as seneschal of the king for the royal lordship of Carmarthen, was involved in frequent struggles with the Welsh of Deheubarth, finally meeting his death in a somewhat unchivalrous incident near Cardigan in 1258. Thereupon the inheritance passed to his wife’s custody and thence to his sons, Pain (d. 1279) and Patrick II(1279—83). Eventually it came to Maud, daughter of Patrick II, and her husband, Henry of Lancaster. Thus on Henry’s accession to the earldom of Lancaster at the end of Edward II’s reign, the two groups of estates, those of Kidwelly and of Monmouth, were incorporated into the honour of Lancaster.
