Андрей Львович Толстой (1877-1916) - сын Л.Н. Толстого. Андрей Львович был многими любим за свою доброту, великодушие, благородство. Это был порывистый, страстный человек, храбрый и уверенный в себе. Он очень любил мать, которая обожала его и прощала ему все. Отец, оценив доброту Андрея, «самое дорогое и важное качество, которое дороже всех на свете», советовал ему применять свои идеи на благо народа. Андрей Львович не разделял взглядов отца, считая, что если он дворянин, то должен пользоваться всеми привилегиями и преимуществами, которые ему дает его положение. Обучался он в гимназии Поливанова и Катковском лицее, но не закончил курса. В 1895 г. поступил вольноопределяющимся на военную службу. Принимал участие в Русско-японской войне в чине унтер-офицера конным ординарцем. На войне был ранен, получил Георгиевский крест за храбрость. В 1907 г. он поступил на службу чиновником особых поручений при тульском губернаторе. Первым браком был женат на Ольге Константиновне Дитерихс, вторым - на Екатерине Васильевне Горяиновой, по первому мужу Арцимович. Вторая жена Андрея Львовича ради него оставила своего мужа, губернатора, и шестерых детей. Толстой решительно не одобрял образа жизни сына, но говорил о нем: «Я не хочу его любить, но я люблю потому, что он подлинный и не хочет казаться другим». Толстой А.Л. - автор мемуарного очерка «О моем отце» // Яснополянский сборник. Тула, 1965. Андрей Львович скончался 24 февраля 1916 г. в Петрограде от общего заражения крови.

Дочь - Софья Андреевна Толстая, родилась 12 апреля в 1900 г. в Ясной Поляне, умерла 29 июня 1957 г. в Малаховке под Москвой. Погребена на Кочаковском кладбище. Первым браком замужем с 1921 г. за Сергеем Михайловичем Сухотиным. Вторым браком с 1925 г. за Сергеем Александровичем Есениным. Третьим браком с 1948 г. за Александром Дмитриевичем Тимротом. С.А. Толстая - Есенина с 1928 г. неразрывно связана с деятельностью музеев Толстого. В 1941 -1957 гг. - директор толстовских музеев. Провела большую работу по восстановлению Ясной Поляны после гитлеровской оккупации. Сын - Илья Андреевич Толстой, родился 3 февраля 1903 г. в сельце Таптыково Тульского уезда Тульской губернии, умер 28 октября 1970 г. в Нью-Йорке. Погребен на кладбище Ново-Дивеевского монастыря. Спринг Валли, Нью-Йорк. Первым браком женат с 1920 г. на Зое Дмитриевне Платоновой. Вторым браком на Вере Ильиничне Сидорковой. Географ. Основатель первого в мире дельфинариума, полковник армии США, посланник президента Рузвельта на Тибет.

Дочь - Мария Андреевна Толстая, родилась 17 февраля 1908 г. в сельце Таптыково Тульского уезда Тульской губернии. Первым браком замужем за Александром Ваулиным. Вторым - за Владимиром Федоровичем Мансветовым.
