21. Add. MS. 32104, no. 669. Richard Banastre had had issue (whether lawful or not is not stated) by Joan Parker, a first cousin of Joan Walton. Robert Banastre of Park Hill is said to have married Isabel daughter of Lawrence Townley; Dugdale, Visit. (Chet. Soc.), 308.
35. The heading in 1662 is 'Barrowford cum Rushton Thornes.' In 1542 at the halmote of Ightenhill Rishton Thorns and a part of it called New Carr passed from the feoffees of Ellen Townley to Lawrence Townley, who was admitted. The rent is given as 17s. 9½d. Suit to the mill at New Carr Close was in dispute in 1547; Ducatus Lanc. (Rec. Com.), i, 230. For later disputes see ibid, iii, 321, 488.
