Ze gingen wonen aan de Maasdijk, nabij de Schinkel, in een huis met een stal voor twee paarden. Naast het huis stond een hooiberg.

Arie de Jongste had een tuin in de Oranjepolder, waar hij op de "koude grond" groenten teelde, die hij met zijn paard en wagen naar de veiling aan de Westerlee reed. 's-Morgens vroeg reed hij de boeren langs om de melkbussen op te halen en deze af te leveren bij de melkfabriek te Maasland.
