Hij overleed tengevolge van een noodlottig ongeval op het kruispunt Quatre Bras,
tussen Oisterwijk en Udenhout,waar hij werd aangereden door een auto, in het bijzijn van een van zijn dochters.Hij wilde op bezoek gaan bij zijn zoon in Udenhout.
Hij was verder een bekende figuur in het sociale leven in Oisterwijk
Hij had 2 zonen en 4 dochters:

Het dubbele woonhuis dat bewoond werd door 2 broers, Christ en Jos van der Aa, werd op 25-10-1944 tijdens de bevrijding in brand geschoten.
