Jan is in ondertrouw gegaan op 19 april 1863 in Tjalleberd en getrouwd op 2 mei 1863 in Aengwirden, op 24-jarige leeftijd met
Johanna Kleinberend (22 jaar oud), geboren op 30 januari 1841 in Tjalleberd (rooms-katholiek), overleden op 27 mei 1914 in Luinjeberd, begraven op 30 mei 1914 in Heerenveen, 73 jaar oud, dochter van Johannes Hendriks Kleinberend (schoenmaker en winkelier) en Elizabeth Harmens Lenes (XIV-p, blz. 347).
