N.B. In SFA wordt als broer van Gysbert opgevoerd een Arent van Arentsma, maar van der Meer toonde in GJB 1962-33/34 al aan dat het hier gaat om de burger Arent Pyters uit Leeuwarden, die getrouwd was met Alydt Jayema (als rijke weduwe Alydt Arents genoemd).

Het nageslacht noemt zich soms ook Arentsma.
